A New Chapter Begins

We’re excited to share a major evolution in our operations: we now operate under our new department name—University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS).

This change is more than a new name—it’s a bold step forward in how we serve the UVM community. By uniting Residence Life and UVM Dining under one department, UHDS will streamline student support and create a more cohesive, enriching experience for the 6,500+ students who call campus home.

From the moment prospective students explore UVM to the daily lives of our current residents, this integration allows us to think holistically about the student journey—supporting not just where students live, but how they connect, grow, and nourish themselves.

We’re building something extraordinary: a department rooted in collaboration, creativity, and care. Our unified teams are already working together to imagine new possibilities—developing inclusive programs, reimagining community spaces, and curating innovative dining experiences that reflect our students’ needs and identities.

This is the beginning of a new chapter in student life at UVM, and we’re proud to lead with purpose, passion, and a shared commitment to excellence—one plate, one room, one student at a time.
