Dining Plan Options
UVM Dining is more than great food. It is a community experience centered on culinary expertise, fresh ingredients, healthy options, and a shared sense of environmental and social responsibility. Our team is committed to creating the best possible dining experience for you! Join us for delicious foods in an inviting atmosphere while enjoying the convenience of dining on-campus.
To purchase a meal plan, visit the “Shop." Meal plans are accessed through your UVM CATcard. All plan holders must present their CATCard to the cashier at the time of purchase to use their plan. Meal Plans are subject to change and interpretation, as recommended by the University Administration.

For the 2024/2025 academic year the following meal plans will be offered:
All Access offers unlimited Meal Swipes into our dining halls plus 150 Retail Points and 3 Guest Meals = $2,364 per semester
- This plan ensures students have meals from our dining halls from the first day of the semester to the last. All First-Time, First-Year students will start on this plan, they may switch meal plans within the first two weeks of the semester.
All Access Plus offers unlimited Meal Swipes into our dining halls plus 300 Retail Points and 5 Guest Meals = $2,486 per semesters
- This plan ensures students have meals from our dining halls from the first day of the semester to the last.
Flex Plan 160 "Meals" plus 900 Retail Points and 3 Guest Meals = $2,641 per semester
- Provides the best of both worlds with a balance of dining in our dining halls and retail locations. This plan covers approximately 60 Retail Points and 10 Meal Swipes per week into the dining halls. Unlike the Unlimited Access Plan, it is not intended to cover all meals offered during the semester. It is the student's responsibility to budget their "Meals" and Retail Points.
Retail Point 1750vRetail Points plus 50 Meals and 3 Guest Meals = $2,364 per semester.
- Designed for the student who enjoys flexibility and convenience. This plan covers approximately 97 Retail Points and 2 Meals entries per week into the dining halls. Unlike the Unlimited Access Plan, it is not intended to cover all meals offered during the semester. It is the student's responsibility to budget "Meals" and Retail Points.
Important: Unused "Meals" expire at semester's end and are non-refundable. Unused Retail Points carry over from fall to spring semester as long as the plan holder maintains an on-campus meal plan. Any Retail Points not used by May 9, 2025, will expire and are non-refundable. If your meal plan contract is canceled at any time, you no longer have access to meals, unused retail points, or guest meals. Note: Meal Plans are subject to change and interpretation, as recommended by the University Administration.
How do I sign up for a meal plan?
You will sign up for your meal plan when completing the Residence Life Housing and Meal Plan Contract. All first-time, first-year students will start on the All-Access Plan. Any student (first-year, transfer, or returning) wishing to change their meal plan can during our Meal Plan Switch Period, which occurs the first two weeks of every semester.
How do I make additions to my meal plan?
An on-campus student may add additional Retail Points to their On-Campus (resident) Meal Plan. Retail Points added to a student's account are available after the meal plan points have been used. The balance of any unused Retail Points added to an On-Campus (resident) Meal Plan will carry over from semester to semester as long as you are enrolled at UVM.
Additional Retail Points may be purchased starting after the add/drop period (September 9, 2024) in the following increments:
Important Meal Plan Requirement:
All students living on-campus are required to have a meal plan for the term of their nine-month contract. Our residential facilities are not equipped to provide individual meal preparation, and our dining locations provide a variety of menu options. Students with specific meal-related concerns are able to receive individual menu planning directly with a Registered Dietitian.

What is the Retail Point Plan?
The Retail Point Plan is a declining balance account, and each point is valued at a dollar. Points can be used at any of our on-campus dining outlets. Use your retail points at one of the following locations and you'll receive a 10% DISCOUNT at the register: Campus Perk, Cyber Cafe, Given Bistro, Green Roof Deli, Redstone Market, The Marketplace, University Marche, UVM Dairy Bar, and Waterman Market. The balance of any unused Retail Points will carry over from semester to semester as long as you are enrolled at UVM.

What is the Block Plan?
The Block Plans offer a set number of "Meals" or entries into our dining halls: Central Campus, Harris Millis, Northside, and Redstone Dining.
Blocks Meals cannot be used for the Meal Exchange program at the University Marche or The Marketplace. Unused Blocks carry over from the fall to spring semester. Any unused Blocks not used by May 9, 2025, expire and are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Below is the cost of our 2024/2025 Block Plan:
- 30 Blocks: $292
- 50 Blocks: $448
- 75 Blocks: $651
- 100 Blocks: $842
- 125 Blocks: $1,031
- 150 Blocks: $1,238

Welcome to UVM! We know how complicated switching schools can be, we want your transition to UVM and our campus dining experience to be as smooth as possible.
First things first...are you going to be living on-campus or off-campus? It's ok if you don't know now, many transfer students are still deciding. If you 're unsure, look at our resources for both on-campus and off-campus students above. Here's the most important thing to keep in mind: All students living on-campus must choose from one of our four on-campus meal plans. You will select and sign up for your meal plan as part of the Housing and Meal Plan Contract.
Can I design my own meal plan?
- We have four on-campus meal plans: All Access, All Access Plus, The Flex, and Retail Points Plans. All on-campus, first-year students will start on the All Access meal plan.
- We also have two meal plan options for Off Campus/Commuter Students, Retail Points and Block Meals.

What is a Block, EcoWare, Meal Exchange or Retail Points?

If you find the plan you selected on your Housing and Meal Contract is not meeting your needs, then you can switch your meal plan during the meal plan switch period by logging into the housing portal and completing the Meal Plan Switch Form.
- Fall 2024: September 9 at 4:00 p.m.
- Spring 2025: January 27 at 4:00 p.m.
Important Meal Plan Switch Period considerations:
- Meal plan switch periods are always the first two weeks of a semester.
- Unless you indicate a change to us, the meal plan you are on at the end of the fall semester will automatically renew for the spring semester and billed accordingly.
- Before you switch, view what plans are available and their associated cost. Once you know the meal plan you want to switch to you must complete the Meal Plan Switch Form, found in our "Quick Links" menu.
- Note that you can only submit this request form ONCE during this Meal Plan Switch period. If you have any trouble using the portal, contact reslife@uvm.edu.
- It may take up to 10 business days to process a meal plan switch, which are completed in the order they are received. Once your order is submitted, please begin to use your plan as if it were your new one.
